STEAM Pub invites you to the Take a Swing at Cancer fundraising event. We request your sponsorship and assistance in offering ideal prizes. Take a Swing at Cancer is a benefit created to honor those in our community who have fought tirelessly against cancer; all proceeds from our inaugural event will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
On Monday, August 27th, the Philmont Country Club,in Huntington Valley, STEAM Pub, in Southampton and The D’Angelo Foundationare graciously hosting a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Each donation and ticket will help LLS focus on cutting edge research, finding cures, and bridging the gap between academic discovery and drug development. Over each of the last 18 years, LLS has fast tracked 10-million dollars for new cancer treatments. In addition, LLS uses donations to support co-payment assistance programs, patient travel assistance, developing podcasts, online chats and peer-to-peer support groups for those battling cancer.
Take a Swing at Cancer is great opportunity for companies to support a worthy cause and at the same time receive valuable exposure. The sponsors of this event will ensure that participants enjoy their experience, and that the money raised from ticket sales and auctions goes directly to LLS. Participating sponsors will have opportunities to receive:
Recognition and the chance to reach over 10K of STEAM Pub’s followers on Facebook and Instagram:
-Reference in all promotional materials
-Opportunity to include branded item in player gift bag
-Extended right to retain sponsorship in one year continuum

We hope to confirm all sponsorships by July 15th in order to create the best advertisement opportunities for your business and the event.
In addition to sponsorships, we hope to offer valuable prizes, raffles and auctions to our golfers and dinner guests. The success of this event is largely influenced by the donations we receive. We are in need of donation items including completed baskets, individual items for baskets, gift cards and larger ticket items such as: vacation rentals, golf outings, electronics, and tickets to sporting events. Please know we are in great need and grateful for any donation you can provide. Any donations, large and small, can be picked up by one of our committee members or dropped off to STEAM Pub in care of “Take a Swing at Cancer FUND.” We will continue to collect and receive donations until August 11th for prizes, raffles and silent auction items.
This year, all proceeds from the Take a Swing at Cancer golf outing will be donated to LLS in honor of our mother Patricia Hoeger and our sister Mary Elizabeth Straub. At the age of 60, Patricia was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and within 9 months succumbed to the disease. Pat was a tireless mother of five and devoted wife to her love Charlie. Coming from a single child household, Pat thrived in Charlie’s large extended family. She left behind six grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles who wish to host this benefit in her honor as well as Mary’s. At the age of 44, Mary was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and lost her battle just two years later. Mary lived her life giving to others, whether it was caring for her four children, caring for her parents and siblings, or caring for her patients as a registered nurse; Mary gave of herself selflessly. We feel the tremendous weight left with the loss of these women, and hope this and future events will lead to LLS’s mission of finding a cure and more effective treatment option for those suffering.
